Why I Do This Work

Hi, I’m Daniel, but please call me Danny. I’m a therapist and counselling tutor, offering counselling in Christchurch and online across the UK.

My path into therapy began through personal challenge, but it developed through professional training, experience and years of working with people navigating anxiety, uncertainty and change. That combination shapes how I work today; grounded, thoughtful and practical.

I understand how easy it is to feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve you or to carry things alone because you’re unsure where to begin. Therapy offers space to slow down, reflect clearly and approach difficulties with greater awareness and choice. I integrate approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Person‑Centred Therapy (PCT) depending on what feels most helpful for you.

Therapy to me is about meeting people as equals. It should never feel intimidating or out of reach. It is a professional, steady space where you can speak openly, think honestly and begin to understand yourself more clearly.

You are the expert in your own life, my role is to help you make sense of what feels unclear and support you in finding a way forward that feels right for you.

If you are considering counselling in Christchurch, the first step is simply a conversation, from there we can decide together what feels helpful. You can also get in touch via the contact section whenever you’re ready.

What Working Together Looks Like

Therapy with me isn’t a set script or a clinical checklist. I work from Person-Centred (PCT), Cognitive-Behavioural (CBT) and Acceptance & Commitment (ACT) approaches, shaping our sessions around what matters most to you. Sometimes we slow down to make sense of what feels heavy and other times we focus on practical strategies you can use.

Whatever direction we take, I bring warmth, clarity and honesty. Therapy isn’t about being “fixed”, It’s about being supported, respected and exploring at your own pace.

“What matters most to me is connection that feels real. When someone feels truly understood, change begins.”

I know starting therapy can feel daunting. The most powerful part of therapy isn’t the theory – it’s the connection. When you feel genuinely understood and valued that’s when real change begins: no jargon, no hidden agendas.

Some people come with clear goals, while others simply want a safe space to breathe and reflect. Both are valid and both have their place.

Over time, my clients often describe therapy as a process that helped them feel more themselves and more empowered and that’s what I hope to offer you.

Whether you are seeking counselling in Christchurch or online therapy across the UK, our sessions are tailored around what matters most to you.

“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, “Soften the orange a bit on the right-hand corner. “I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds”  Carl R. Rogers

What therapies I offer:

Cognitive Behavioural

CBT is practical and structured helping you notice the patterns in your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Together, we explore what might be holding you back and experiment with new ways of thinking or responding. The aim isn’t to ignore your feelings but to give you tools and strategies that help you move forward with confidence and clarity.

Person-Centred

PCT focuses on your experience. You set the pace and I provide a supportive, non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts and feelings. My role is to listen, reflect and offer empathy not to tell you what to do. You are the expert in your own life and therapy helps you uncover the answers that already exist within you.

Acceptance & Commitment

ACT helps you relate to difficult thoughts and emotions differently, rather than trying to push them away, you learn to accept them while still focusing on what matters most to you. Mindfulness, values and small intentional steps help you build flexibility and resilience, which allows for a more meaningful life.

Sessions are typically 50 minutes and take place either in person in Christchurch, Dorset or online across the UK.
