Why This Work Matters to Me
Hi, I’m Daniel – but please call me Danny – a therapist and counselling tutor who’s been immersed in this field for many years. My journey into therapy began with my own challenges, so I know how heavy life can sometimes feel when you’re stuck, uncertain or weighed down by emotions. Those experiences lit the spark, but what’s kept me here is a deep passion for helping others find clarity and strength when life feels overwhelming.
Alongside my practice, I’ve spent much of my career teaching and mentoring future counsellors. That role has shaped me, as much as therapy itself – it’s taught me to stay open, reflective and grounded.
It’s also reminded me that the most important thing in this work isn’t cliches, titles or techniques, but meeting people as equals. I believe therapy should never feel intimidating or out of reach…
At its core, it’s about creating an environment where people feel safe enough to be honest – sometimes for the first time in their lives. That belief guides everything I do.
“You are the expert in your own life – my role is to help you uncover the answers that already exist within you” – Danny
For me, this work is not just about professional achievement, but about contribution, that’s what keeps me passionate year after year.

What Working Together Looks Like
Therapy with me isn’t a set script or a clinical checklist. I use Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy shaping our sessions around what matters most to you. Sometimes that means slowing down and making sense of what feels heavy; other times it’s about finding practical strategies you can use right away.
Whatever direction we take, I bring the same qualities every time: warmth, clarity and honesty. Therapy doesn’t need to feel like you’re being “fixed” – it’s about creating a space where you feel supported, respected and free to explore at your own pace.
“What matters most to me is connection that feels real. Over the years, I’ve seen how powerful it can be when someone feels truly understood – not analysed or “fixed,” but supported to make their own changes in their own time” – Danny
I also know that therapy can feel daunting to start. Over the years I’ve learned that the most powerful part of therapy isn’t the theory – it’s the connection.
When you feel genuinely understood and respected, that’s when real change begins – no jargon, no hidden agendas.
Some people come looking for focused goals, others simply want a safe space to breathe and reflect. Both are valid, and both have their place.
What matters most is that the space we create together feels genuine and useful.
Over time, my clients often describe therapy not as something “done to them,” but as a process that helped them feel more themselves and empowered – and that’s exactly what I hope to offer for you.
“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, “Soften the orange a bit on the right-hand corner. “I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds” – Carl R. Rogers
What Therapies I Offer:

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT)
CBT is practical and structured, helping you notice the patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Together, we can explore what might be holding you back and experiment with new ways of thinking or responding. The aim isn’t to ignore your feelings, but to give you tools and strategies that help you move forward with more confidence and clarity.

Person-Centred (PCT)
PCT focuses on your experience. You set the pace, and I provide a supportive, non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts and feelings. My role is to listen, reflect, and offer empathy – not to tell you what to do. You are the expert in your own life, and therapy helps you uncover the answers that already exist within you.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT)
ACT helps you relate to difficult thoughts and emotions differently. Rather than trying to push them away, you learn to accept them while still focusing on what matters most to you. Mindfulness, values, and small, intentional steps help you build flexibility and resilience, so you can live a meaningful life even alongside challenges.
